Well, somehow you’ve found this website and it’s mine. My name is Allen and I’m an attorney licensed to practice in the state of California (and hopefully others soon). I don’t know that I’ll update this very frequently or update it at all, but I thought I’d give you something more entertaining to look at than the standard Apache placeholder.

Looks like I haven’t had any updates here since November 2009 – to be expected during the holidays I suppose. I studied through January and February of 2010 and took the Hawaii Bar Exam during the last week of February and will be awaiting results for the next 12 weeks.
Also had a bunch of cases going to trial when I got back, but everything has been settling just prior – I guess it’s true that most attorneys really don’t want to go to trial.
Cross and Closing

Today I did my first cross-examination of a witness and closing arguments. It was an interesting experience, it was enjoyable, and I’m told I did a great job. I guess I can’t ask for much more than that!
Arbitration Brief

Finished a nice 16 page arbitration brief today. I find that while I’m writing my briefs I feel like my thoughts and ideas on the matter are just everywhere all at once, yet when I’m done and I look them over, I’m impressed at how well I’ve written them. Sometimes I even think, wow, did I actually write this, this is good stuff!

I’m still playing around with this blog (and I’m still wondering why people started using the word blog instead of weblog [that's web log] and I’m still wondering how it is that some people use blogs and don’t know what the word blog means or where it comes from).
Regardless, I’ve made a home life category, and since I don’t have much of a life at home it will probably be empty with the exception of this post.
The best way to start the work week

I found a case that was dispositive to a federal case I’d been working on, once I got some additional information I went with a Rule 11 motion and it was dismissed! Is there a better way to start the week!
